Lorton Stone, LLC and Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates received the prestigious 2024 Grande Pinnacle Award from the Natural Stone Institute for their restoration work on the Washington National Cathedral South Transept Grand Pinnacles in Washington, DC. The honor was presented during the Natural Stone Institute Awards Ceremony at StonExpo in Las Vegas on January 28th. The award-winning project involved repairing significant damage caused by a rare 5.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the mid-Atlantic region on August 23, 2011. The restoration work included replacing damaged stone, stabilizing pinnacles, and reinforcing the Cathedral’s structure to protect against future damage.
